Overview:

Jonathan joined NTD in 2003. He worked as a patent attorney for 7 years before engaging in litigation and contentious legal works from 2010. Jonathan has rich experience in patent prosecution, patent invalidation, patent litigation and strategy counseling.

Jonathan is now leading a team specialized in providing legal services in the fields of chemistry and biotech.  The services provided by this team include patent invalidation, patent search and patent monitoring, FTO search and analysis, patent litigation (including administrative litigation and civil lawsuits), enforcement at trade fairs, conducting infringement investigations and on-spot due diligence check, trade secret investigation and protection, IP strategy consulting etc.

Representative cases:

• Representing Danisco in a patent infringement case against Yueyang Ruikang Biotechnology Co., Ltd. and Yichang HEC Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd. ((2021) Supreme Court Civil Final No. 2480), and won the case and a compensation of 20 million yuan in the second instance. 

• Representing BASF won patent infringement lawsuits against 4 Chinese agrochemical manufacturers.

• Representing Evonik in invalidating an important patent of a chemical company.

• Representing Tanabe Mitsubishi Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd. in defense against patent invalidation requests and subsequent administrative litigation.

• Representing DuPont in defense against patent invalidation requests and subsequent administrative litigation.

• Preparing patent protection strategy in China for a pesticide product of DuPont.

• Representing Covestro patent infringement lawsuits against 3 domestic hydrophilic curing agent manufacturers.

• Assisting Bayer in FTO search and analysis on drugs and medical devices to be launched in China.

• Assisting Henkel in a M&A project and conducting IP due diligence investigation into a company in Zhejiang province.

• Assisting Evonik in a M&A project and conducting IP due diligence investigation into a company in Hubei province.

• Representing Chemours in filing patent invalidation requests and defending its own patents in the field of refrigerants and titanium dioxide and participating subsequent administrative litigation.
