Recently, NTD attorneys found that a gang in Ulanqab, Inner Mongolia province, produced and sold a large amount of counterfeit corn seeds infringing a well-known sweet corn brand. On behalf of client, NTD attorneys reported to the local police. The Municipal Public Security Bureau carried out a quick investigation and found the warehouse storing the counterfeit corn seeds. On April 26, 2023, the local police and the law enforcement department of agriculture and animal husbandry detained over 2,500 kilograms of counterfeit corn seeds on the spot. Further action was taken to close down a place of production and sale in Zhangye, Gansu Province, with two suspects arrested. A total of 6 tons of counterfeit corn seeds were confiscated, which can be sown over 10,000 mu (1650 acres). The suspects confessed that they bought the corn seeds to repackage and sold for profits. Through these actions, economic losses totaling over 12 million yuan for the farmers were saved.
