1. Patent
From January to October 2020, there have been filed for 1.232 million of patent applications for invention and 413,000 granted.
As of the end of October 2020, the number of effective invention patents was 2.966 million, of which 2.128 million were domestic (excluding Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan) invention patents, and the number of invention patents per 10,000 population reached 15.2.
From January to October, there had been 2.393 million utility models filed and 1.949 million utility models granted.
As of the end of October 2020, the effective number of utility models was 6.652 million.
From January to October, 624,000 design applications were filed, and 619,000 design granted.
As of the end of October 2020, the effective number of designs was 2.132 million.
From January to October, 55,000 PCT applications were received, of which 51,000 were domestic applications.
From January to October, CNIPA accepted 44,700 reexamination requests and closed 41,400 cases. 4,900 requests for invalidation were accepted and 6,500 cases were closed.
2. Trademark
From January to October 2020, the number of trademark applications was 7.568 million, and the number of trademark registrations was 4.645 million.
As of the end of October 2020, the number of valid registered trademarks was 29.182 million.
From January to October, 109,000 trademark opposition applications were filed, and 116,000 opposition cases were reviewed.
From January to October, CNIPA received 6,354 applications for the Madrid International Trademark Registration from Chinese applicants.
From January to October, CNIPA received 294,000 applications for trademark review cases and closed 289,000 cases.
3. Geographical Indications and Integrated Circuit layout design
From January to October 2020, CNIPA approved 727 enterprises using special signs for geographical indication products, and approved 615 registered geographical indication trademarks.
As of October 2020, a total of 2,385 geographical indication products have been approved, 9,224 enterprises using special signs have been approved, and a total of 5,933 geographical indication trademarks have been registered.
From January to October 2020, there were 10,358 applications for registration of layout designs of integrated circuits, and 8,743 were issued.
