To improve China’s legal system of trademark and promote the on-going amendments to the Trademark Law, the Intellectual Property (IP) Center of Chinese Academy of Social Sciences (CASIP) and the China Intellectual Property Training Center co-hosted the Seminar of Issues on Improving Legal System of Trademark on June 15, 2019 at the center.
The heads and experts in the field of intellectual property, such as Director Lv Zhihua of Department of Treaty and Law and Director Hu Anqi of National Intellectual Property Administration (CNIPA), Professor Li Mingde and Professor Guan Yuying of the Intellectual Property Center of Chinese Academy of Social Sciences (CASS), Director Sun Wei of China Intellectual Property Training Center, presided over the seminar. More than 20 well-known judges and scholars, from the Supreme People’s Court, the Tianjin High People’s Court, the Beijing Intellectual Property Court, Tsinghua University, East China University of Political Science and Law (ECUPL), Central University of Finance and Economics, Southwest University of Political Science and Law, held the in-depth exchanges of views on the amendments to the Trademark Law.
Christopher Shen, Senior Partner of NTD, attended this seminar on behalf of the Research Group of China Trademark Association (CTA), the research group studying the subject of Regulations on the Abnormal Trademark Application and Registration. He introduced the medium-term achievements to the attendees, with the emphasis on the concepts and types of the malicious application of trademark and the hoarding of trademark registration.
The seminar held discussions on the topics of further improving the legal system of trademark and promoting the overall amendments to the Trademark Law. The research groups were provided with the staged achievements, and a platform of communication was also presented to the industry experts, scholars, the R&D institutions and the judges. The attendees concluded the problems in theory and practice generated in the framework of the existing Trademark Law. They also provided the valuable advice for the amendments to the Trademark Law, from their profound theoretical knowledge and extensive experience.
