Recently, the National Copyright Administration issued the notification, which decides to carry out nationwide special action to protect the emblems of 2022 Beijing Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games. The notification stresses that no unit or individual is allowed to use the emblems of Beijing Winter Olympics without the permission of Beijing Organization Committee for the 2022 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games (hereinafter the Beijing Organization Committee).
The notification requires that copyright administrative enforcement departments at all levels should enhance daily supervision on the emblems copyright, increase investment in law enforcement resources, make full use of technological means such as the copyright monitoring platforms, carry out all-round inspections and find infringement clues in time. Efforts should also be made to improve the complaints and report services, as well as the incentives for effective complaints. Supervision should be enhanced on the copyright of key products, such as precious metal, and major time points concerning the emblems, including the unveiling of emblems, online soft opening of franchised products, issuing of commemorative stamps and starting of franchised stores. It is required that copyright administrative enforcement departments should focus on the investigation of a selected batch of important cases regarding infringement of the Olympics emblems, and the establishment of a sound and speedy mechanism for handling Olympics copyright infringements.
