Baidu sued its former head of autonomous driving department for infringing trade secrets

Recently, Beijing Intellectual Property Court accepted a case in which Baidu sued Mr. Wang and JingChi Corp. for trade secret infringement. Mr. Wang was the former general manager of Baidu autonomous driving department and later became the operating officer of JingChi Corp.

Baidu requests that the court order the defendants to stop the infringing acts immediately, including, but not limited to stop using the trade secrets to engage in autonomous driving related business in competition with Baidu. A damage of 50 million Yuan was claimed by Baidu for its economic loss and reasonable expenses. Baidu also asked for the defendants’ public statement to eliminate negative impacts, and bearing of the litigation costs.

Baidu alleges that there was a labor contract between Baidu and Mr. Wang which explicitly agreed on the obligations of competition restriction, non-recruitment of Baidu employees, and confidentiality.
