According to the statistics from SIPO, in the first half of 2017, Chinese patent pledge financing amounted to 31.8 billion Yuan, an increase of 92% as compared with the same period of the previous year, and the number of pledge items reached 1,493, an increase of 41%. Liaoning, Jiangsu, Shandong, Beijing and Tianjin ranked top 5 in terms of the amount of patent pledge. Shandong, Shanxi, Anhui, Jiangsu and Guangdong ranked top 5 regarding the number of pledge items.
In May 2017, SIPO defined the key working points in advancing the 2017 patent pledge financing, including promoting the establishment of market-oriented compensation and insurance mechanism, giving full play to the initiatives of financial institution, service agency and enterprise. In the next stage, SIPO will enhance the communication and coordination with People’s Bank of China and China Banking Regulatory Commission to establish the appraisal mechanism that fits the intellectual property pledge, guiding commercial banks to provide more pledge loans, and supporting financial institutions to develop intellectual property pledge business.
